A little story to start with..

Free2b Girls was founded on the East Coast of Tasmania in 2017.

It grew from hearing a local mother’s frustration that there was nowhere for her teenage daughters to meet new friends and ‘just have somewhere they can safely be themselves in.’ Responding to this, we started a girls group and found that many girls who came along felt the same….

‘ There’s nothing to do and nowhere to go ’ are common words that Free2b Girls has been addressing in rural and regional Tasmania for almost 10 years and will continue to do so as long as our name has a little ‘ b’ in it…

We keep the ‘b’ a small one, so that there is always potential to grow and our beautiful logo symbolises our ethos of sustaining caring communities for girls and young women.

“Free2b Girls” is the social enterprise at the bottom, providing an approach, experience and trainings. The tree trunk hand represents the host organisations our programs work under; the leaves are the women who run our programs; the hearts are the community surrounding our programs and the butterfly symbolises the girls in our programs, flying with confidence and creativity in the world!

Free2b Girls is in the process of building our capacity to respond to rural and regional communities who have requested our Free2b Girls Groups. Through new partnerships and networks, we are fine- tuning our model of working with local organisations so that more teenage girls can access safe, welcoming, creative spaces. Our ultimate vision is for all girls and young women living in isolated situations to have access to new social opportunities, be supported in their aspirations and feel like they are valued members of their own communities.
